The drug has been indicated for the treatment of hepatitis C and B. Ketchum has also been hired to promote the company's wider hepatitis franchise.

Ketchum was appointed following a four-way pitch at the Roche headquarters in Basel. The account will be led by Ketchum senior account director Harriet Farmer, with support from a five-strong team.

‘Pegasys is the foundation of hepatitis C therapy, and is increasingly recognised as a key treatment for hepatitis B,' said Ketchum MD of international healthcare Sébastien Desprez.

The Ketchum team will report to Roche international communications manager Mike Nelson.
