Flack: On expenses - Gilmour's, London SW10

Reviewer: Ghislain Pascal, managing director, Panic

- What is it good for?

Recently opened restaurant Gilmour's is my local canteen. It has a friendly relaxed dining room with slick decor and open-plan kitchen. You don't need a reservation at lunchtime (yet) and it does a great menu of modern British cuisine at very affordable prices.

- Signature dishes

The slow roast belly of Blythburgh pork with sloe gin gravy, watercress and mash followed by home-made treacle tart, washed down with some excellent French rose.

- Who's the boss

Legendary restaurateur Christopher Gilmour, of Christopher's in Covent Garden fame. Always seen propping up the bar and on hand to greet every customer.

- Tips please

Has a great bar with seriously good cocktails. A perfect meeting place in the evening before dinner. Make a reservation in the evening though as it gets busy. And if there are more than two of you try to book the booth.

- What's the damage guv'?

Lunch for two is approximately £50, more for dinner if you have cocktails.
