Flack: CIPR PRide Awards, All in the Mind and Gordon Ramsay!

The CIPR PRide Awards in Scotland were presented by local radio DJ Grant Stott, John Leslie's brother. After comically plugging his show to the assembled PROs he targeted former head of public relations at Glasgow City Council John Brown - brother of the Prime Minister. 'We've got something in common,' grinned Stott at a mortally embarrassed Brown. 'We both know what it's like top have brothers battered in the press...

'Ex-Downing Street spinner Alastair Campbell's new tome, All in the Mind, has already won him a much-coveted prize: the Literary Review's Bad Sex in Fiction Award. The awards were set up 'with the aim of gently dissuading authors and publishers from including unconvincing, perfunctory, embarrassing or redundant passages of a sexual nature in otherwise sound literary novels'. Certainly the passage that begins: 'He wasn't sure where his penis was in relation to where he wanted it to be....' should stand as a warning to all PROs with literary pretensions...

Cue Sarah Symonds, the 'PR and serial mistress' who hit the news this week for her seven-year affair with Gordon Ramsay. The former mistress of Jeffrey Archer penned the learned tome Having an Affair? A Handbook for the Other Woman, which includes such revelatory passages as: 'Don't do any sock washing or any other boring duties that go with matrimony. Leave these obligations to his wife.'
