NHS trust hires Thornton

Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust has appointed former health editor of The Sun Jacqui Thornton to its board with a comms brief. Thornton left The Sun in July last year to set up Jacqui Thornton Comms, a consultancy and media training firm.

Fleishman-Hillard has bolstered its senior healthcare team with promotions of associate directors Aoife Kilkenny and Tracey Carey to directors of the healthcare public affairs and PR teams respectively. Lorna Croft has also been promoted to account manger and Lindsay Fowlston to account director, both in the PR teams.

Holland and Barrett is launching a multimillion-pound comms and marketing campaign this week to promote its position as one of the UK's biggest natural health brands. Brighton-based Pegasus PR has been reappointed.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer's CEO Jeremy Hughes stressed that the messaging to patients among PCTs would be key in the wake of the Government's decision to allow top-up payments. Hughes was speaking at an event last week hosted by Hanover Communications.
