Champagne brand recruits agency

Lanson Champagne has brought in food and drinks specialist Phipps PR as its retained agency following a two-way pitch.

The six-figure brief will target trade and consumer titles, sommeliers and independent retailers.

Phipps will implement a media relations campaign to address ‘misconceptions' about the taste of the champagne and position Lanson Champagne as ‘the perfect aperitif'.

The agency is planning press trips to the Champagne region of France to educate wine and food writers about the production technique behind the drink.

Phipps senior account director, Lisa Paton, will head up the account and will report into Paul Beavis, managing director of Lanson UK.
