Has the PR industry gone credit crunch mad? In the past few days alone some 10 press releases have winged their way into my inbox, all cashing in on the current media preoccupation with the credit crunch to promote a motley collection of their clients' goods and services.

We have started keeping all the entries in order to honour the finest example of a 'press release with the most tenuous link to the credit crunch'.

It is a near-run thing I grant you, but out in front, as I write this, is a story on a sex toy that will not only have you vibrating with pleasure, but is so cheap to buy (just £9.99) that it will - yes, you've guessed it - help you beat the credit crunch.

Surely the nation's PROs can do better than this.
