On Expenses - The Living Room, Edinburgh

Reviewer: Martin Allen, Consultant, Trimedia UK

- What is it good for?

The Living Room, situated on Edinburgh's chic George Street, is a stylish destination for cuisine, drinks and first-rate service without the high prices. It is perfect for an informal client meeting. The restaurant seats 140 with lots of space between tables.

- Signature dishes

The menu focuses on varied tastes with a European/global fusion, including traditional dishes with a modern twist to provide a something-for-everyone mix. The hearty desserts, such as the sharing chocolate fondue, with strawberries, marshmallows and biscotti, is not for the faint hearted, especially when teamed with The Living Rooms' signature cocktail 'The Basil Grande'.

- Who is the boss?

The restaurant is owned by the Living Room Group, a national chain, but does not have a pre-packaged identikit chain feel about it.

- Tips please?

The infamous cocktail master-classes, held weekly, are a perfect opportunity for a corporate event where customers can hop behind the bar and shake it up themselves.

- What's the damage?

Around £30 for two for a two-course lunch.

113-115 George Street, EH2 4JN 0131 226 0880.
