- Who are the web barons?
The Daily Beast is the digital brainchild of Tina Brown, ex-editor of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker. Brown runs the show with the help of Edward Felsenthal, former deputy managing editor of the Wall Street Journal, and Caroline Marks, a former general manager at Comcast Interactive Media.
- Get the tone right
The website sits in between the liberal The Huffington Post and the right-thinking Drudge Report. About a third of content is original, with columns from former John McCain adviser Mark McKinnon, historian Sean Wilentz and satirist Christopher Buckley among others.
- Approachability
Marketing director Debbie Fink says: 'A lot of our content is news based but we are open to pitches.' Email editorial@thedailybeast.com.
PR friendly score 5/10.
