6 October - We went, we moaned, but in the end we survived... Friday's Byte Night, the annual IT industry sleep-out in support of Action for Children and youth homelessness, was a great success, despite it being one of the coldest nights of the year.

3 October - The Guardian has reported that search engine king Google is launching technology that will have PR agencies searching for news content on blog posts. Nothing new I hear you say, but this time the optimised Google Blog Search will find and arrange the 900,000 blog entries that are added each day. Previously the service only let users type keywords into the search engine. Entries will be placed on the left, with categories such as politics, science, technology, TV, entertainment, sports, business and films.

3 October - While most sectors of the economy are in the red, there are few sectors reporting steady growth and profits late into the third quarter. The gaming industry is one of the least affected by the credit crunch so far. Wii, Xbox and the PS3 have reported profits and are forecasting a good run of sales toward Christmas. The film and music industry is also doing well even though the amount of investment has decreased.
