- What is it good for?
When I'm entertaining clients and really want to impress, my favourite restaurant is Pearl in Holborn. It is lavishly decorated with pearls and never fails to make a real impact on clients. If you want to blow the budget, there is an amazing wine cellar. The staff are friendly, informative and always willing to help you choose from the extensive wine list.
- Signature dishes
Head chef, Jun Tanaka, has created a menu full of tempting dishes, such as tortellini of Tsarskaya oysters with samphire, caviar seaweed and cucumber salad. Or try the Sole meuniere with a gratin of razor clams and shrimps. For those with a sweet tooth the Brillat-Savarin cheesecake and rhubarb and blood orange terrine are delicious, while the petits fours are not to be missed.
- Who's the boss?
Pearl Restaurant is part of Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel. Tanaka can often be seen strolling through the restaurant.
- Tips please?
Considering the glamorous feel of the place, the lunch menu is excellent value - only £26 for two courses.
