FCO advises Dubai on comms

The government of Dubai has called on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) for advice on communications strategies.

The FCO has been providing ongoing advice following a visit to London by the Dubai Executive Council in June.

Former FCO comms chief Lucian Hudson said: 'The FCO, working with others in the British Government, has been keen to share expertise with other governments to help them build their capabilities.'

Dubai Executive Council director of executive council affairs Nasser Al Hamli is interested in the Government's Engage programme to use comms to support the delivery of policy objectives.

During the visit, Al Hamli met former Downing Street director of strategic comms Martin Sheehan and former Cabinet Office permanent secretary for government comms Howell James. He also met Department of Transport comms director David Murphy, who advised him on running road safety campaigns.

Hudson is leading a special assignment for the FCO on collaborative partnerships between governments, business and NGOs. So far he has involved more than 80 organisations worldwide, including 14 governments.
