Hotwire's energy practice has been brought in to increase coverage of the REA's ideas in the mainstream media and position the association as the voice on sustainable energy issues. The REA has not had PR representation for over a year.

The REA is the UK's largest renewable trade association and represents over 500 renewable energy producers.

The agency will be reaching out to the national, broadcast and trade media, and also implementing creative strategies. The REA hopes to influence consumer practices, political debate and government legislation. It is especially concerned with ensuring its views are heard on the Energy Bill currently going through Parliament, which will see a greater reliance on renewable energy sources.

Scott McLean at Hotwire will be managing the account. He will be reporting to Leonie Greene, head of external affairs at the REA.
