The Week in Lobbying

The Energy Retail Association has drawn up a shortlist of five agencies to fight it out for a major PR and public affairs account. Fishburn Hedges and Fleishman-Hillard are believed to be among those in contention with some pitches taking place this week. The incumbent is Four Communications. The account has gone out to pitch following the arrival of new head of comms and media relations Peter Jenkins.

Ericsson, the leading Swedish-based provider of mobile phone technology and other communication systems, is on the verge of handing out a major public affairs account. Insight Public Affairs, Connect Public Affairs and Quintus Public Affairs are said to have narrowly missed out.

Insight Public Affairs is to provide assistance to the Florida Democrats in the forthcoming US presidential elections. The agency is sending a 20-strong delegation to Miami, including Labour MPs and party strategists. Insight is headed by former Edelman director John Lehal.

Bell Pottinger Public Affairs was due to launch its new planning unit as PRWeek went to press with an event at The Glaziers Hall, London Bridge. The agency recently appointed Four Communications account director Emma Waterfall as director of the new unit.
