Flack: Razor sharp

Still basking in Olympic glory? And why the bally hell not. In tribute to our Olympic heroes Flack managed to dig up a fantastic retro pic of Flagship Consulting MD Diana Soltmann (pictured), whose first job in PR was working for the Protocol department at the Munich Olympics of 1972. 'I was one of 1,200 hostesses and had just finished my first year at uni and was doing this during the summer holidays,' recalls Soltmann. 'The Germans had done a survey about what the rest of the world thought of them. We were ordered to shave our legs and armpits. Apparently "the world" thought Germans were very hairy so we were issued with a razor and inspected.' No word on whether Flagship continues the same proud tradition... Lower down the page you will read a story about Cornish agency mpad, run by a husband and wife team. Now Flack hates to break up successful marriages, but just what was husband in question Mark Picken suggesting when he described them in a press release as a 'husband and wide duo'?... And finally, thanks to Surrey Police senior press and publicity officer Nick Cloke, who informed us that he was 'shocked' to read he was forced to wear a fluorescent jacket while working at the Epsom Derby (PRWeek, 18 July). 'I look forward to reading - but hopefully not featuring in - future columns,' he said. Apart from this one, that is, whoops!
