Editor takes comms role

The Audit Commission has poached a Guardian supplement editor as its new MD of comms and public reporting.

David Walker will join the Commission in October. He is currently editor of Public, The Guardian's monthly magazine for public sector managers.

Walker succeeds Jenny Grey, who left in July to be comms director at the Cabinet Office (PRWeek, 10 April).

In his new £110k role, Walker will report to chief executive Steve Bundred. He will be responsible for press teams, internal comms and public reporting. 'With the introduction of new forms of assessing local public services, the Audit Commission will be thinking hard about how it talks to the public and its partners inside government,' said Walker.
