- FD increased its revenue by 48 per cent to £31.8m in the first half of 2008, resulting in earnings of £8.2m before interest, tax and amortisation expenses. The City agency's revenue increase was released as part of owner FTI's Q2 earnings announcement.

- Barry George, the man acquitted last week of killing presenter Jill Dando, is being represented by freelance publicist Surjit Singh Clair. Singh Clair has also represented the Miscarriages of Justice Organisation.

- Cube Communications has been chosen by wine trade body Wines of South Africa for a consumer PR brief after a four-way pitch. The agency will build consumer awareness and understanding of the country's wine industry.

- Golden Goose PR has been drafted in to promote a new adventure golf course: Jurassic Encounter. The agency will handle media relations for the New Malden-based dinosaur-themed course.

- North Devon Plus has appointed Atkinson PR to promote local businesses throughout the South West. The private sector company was formed by North Devon Council and Torridge District Council.

- Dobbies Garden Centres' PR and events assistant Pauline Foster has left to launch a PR agency, Pure Shores, in Oban, Scotland. Whisky Coast, a collaboration of 16 whisky distilleries, is one of its inaugural clients.
