Audit Commission hires Guardian journalist for top comms role

The Audit Commission has poached a Guardian supplement editor as its new MD of communications and public reporting.

David Walker is set to join the Audit Commission in October from his role as editor of Public, the Guardian's monthly magazine for senior public managers.

He succeeds Jenny Grey who left the Audit Commission in July to become director of comms at the Cabinet Office.

As part of his new £110,000 role Walker will report into chief executive Steve Bundred. He will be responsible for the press teams, internal communications and public reporting activity.
