FLACK: On expenses - The Peat Inn, Fife, Scotland

Reviewer: Cristina Dello Sterpaio, consultant, Crimson Edge PR, Edinburgh

What is it good for?
The Peat Inn, a 'restaurant with rooms', offers the perfect escape for those looking for a luxurious haven away from bustling city life. Situated only an hour from Edinburgh and six miles from St Andrews, The Peat Inn is the ideal location for keen golfers.

Signature dishes
Geoffrey Smeddle uses only the finest locally sourced produce to create delicious meals, such as seared scallops with peas or Anstruther lobster with a salad of avocados and local potatoes. The three-course set lunch menu costs only £16, while the set dinner costs £32.

Who's the boss?
Head chef and proprietor Smeddle has won numerous awards over the years and is a recognised columnist for the Sunday Herald.

Tips please?
I would recommend booking well in advance, because this quaint inn is full most weekends and closed on Sundays and Mondays. It is also a true sentiment that you don't need to eat in a Michelin-starred restaurant to enjoy an amazing dining experience.
