Automotive body appoints head of comms

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has appointed a new head of comms.

Nikki Rooke joins the body that represents the UK automotive industry from the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, where she managed the global PR function.

Before that, she has worked for Ford's premier automotive group, and as a press officer for SMMT.

Rooke's priority will be to maximise positive media coverage for the British International Motor Show.

SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt said: 'Longer term her priority will be to help raise awareness of the scope and scale of the UK motor industry and its role in addressing the major environmental and economic challenges society faces.'
