Flack: All in a spin..

Tony Blair, a king of spin if ever there was one, will be testing his backhand slice against Outside Organisation MD Penny McDonald after the six-foot PRO successfully bid for the right to play the grinning former PM at tennis. Strangely, PRWeek was told this story by Propeller Communications. It seems PR agency Outside has taken on a PR agency to do its trade PR. Perhaps supremo Alan Edwards is trying to up the value of the agency and those sale rumours are true?... A colourful story from last month's Epsom Derby. Surrey Police PROs were issued bright fluorescent paramedic-style jackets emblazoned with 'Police Press Officer' in reflective writing on the back. One can imagine the scene after a sickening tumble in the main event. The first person to reach a stricken jockey may shout: 'This man is dying! We need a police press officer quick, and for God's sake make him visible!'... A tidy bit of research by 3 Monkeys revealed that Natasha Kaplinsky, the Mirror's 3am girls, and celebrated Middle East reporter Robert Fisk all have what it takes to make successful PROs. No doubt Fisk is pleased to have been placed in such exalted company... Flack watched Will Smith flick Hancock at the weekend. It's about advising a superhero on his comms strategy. One wonders if Damian McBride feels he's doing the same for Gordon Brown.
