As pundits eagerly await Boris Johnson's 100th day as London mayor, the teams behind him have come under increasing scrutiny. The resignations of deputy mayor Ray Lewis and adviser James McGrath have turned the spotlight inside City Hall, meaning the two-pronged press team have their work cut out, says Clare O'Connor.

The assembly scrutinises the mayor's activities and researches issues of importance to Londoners. Its press team reports its findings and publicises events backed by City Hall. The assembly was created in 2000 and is seen as a stepping stone to Parliament.
