FLACK: Early riser...

Flack bumped into Hanover founder Charles Lewington and his increasingly sozzled team at an awards do last week.

Actually, it was in the bar afterwards, where the team continued to get more lubricated despite having to catch a 5am Eurostar the next day for a team jolly on the Continent. Maybe it should be renamed Hangover?... On the subject of handling drink, it is a prerequisite for the lucky person who becomes Piers Morgan's PA. Morgan is on the hunt for personal support staff, which is not fascinating in itself, but the job spec is enticing: applicants should 'be able to think one step ahead and second-guess the employer's thought process'. Sounds like a job for a PRO... Back-page stalwart and Cheeky Girl romancer Lembit Opik appears finally to have amended the Register of Members' Interests. But the MP has stopped short of actually declaring the amount he earned for his Luther Pendragon advisory work. Interestingly, he did declare 'up to £5,000' for 'journalism for the Daily Sport'. What did he do?... And Flack learned this week that the former (we thought) Freud director of digital and previous head of the Prime Minister's digital PR operation Jimmy Leach is still being paid by Freud. That is despite joining The Independent as editorial director of its online service. Does the Murdoch family approve?
