In a surprise move, Pooley is leaving Lewis after 12 years at the tech firm. She joins Bite as MD for the EMEA region later this year.

Pooley, a former PRWeek Young Communicator of the Year, will oversee Bite's London and Stockholm offices. She will report to Bite CEO Clive Armitage, who is returning to the UK office from the US this August.

Armitage called Pooley 'a forthright individual', adding that he spent five months searching before hiring her.

'She knows her own mind. She's come a long way very quickly, which is down to raw ability,' he said. 'I've always been impressed.'

Pooley is currently on a three-month notice period at Lewis, where she has been working since 1995 and leading UK operations since 2003.

At Bite, she will sit on the agency's board of directors, with a particular responsibility for identifying new geographic markets for Bite.

She will take over from Hugh Birley, CEO of Lexis, who has been holding the fort at Bite since outgoing UK MD David Hargreaves left for the US (PRWeek, 2 May).

Bite recently hired Ruby Quince, founder of guidebooks website Itchy Guides, as head of digital (PRWeek, 2 May).
