FLACK: On Expenses - Commonwealth Club, London

Reviewer: Andrew White, MD, Triggerfish Communications.

What's it good for?
It has become increasingly difficult to find a decent restaurant with an area for holding a business meeting (let alone a place that will let you sit there in peace, rather than rush you out the door to make way for more customers). In this respect, the Commonwealth Club has been a true 'saviour'.

Signature dishes
The chef uses market fresh produce, which changes weekly, and marries flavours from across the Commonwealth. And all for the set menu price of £35.

Who's the boss?
Head Chef Mark Page has won many awards in his time and willingly creates bespoke menus for your own event. My recent visit included a business meeting, followed by a private lunch. The transition of the room for the private lunch was subtle and efficient.

Tips please?
There is a 'members only' area, but ask for a private dining room. This way, you can circumnavigate the membership and have a meeting with discreet service followed by a lunch or dinner that would not be out of place on one of the capital's Michelin-starred tables.
