Senior hire at MySpace

MySpace has poached one of Motorola's top PR professionals to fill its most senior European comms role.

Una Kent will join the social network as vice president of comms for Europe, reporting directly to MySpace international MD Travis Katz. Kent was European director of consumer comms at Motorola.

'Massive social phenomena do not come round all that often,' said Kent of her decision to join MySpace.

The website recently lost PR chief Chris McCafferty to Shine, where he is now a board director (PRWeek, 24 April).

Kent's departure comes after a year of departures at Motorola. A structural revamp of the comms team also saw European director of comms Rachel Laird move on to publisher Random House (PRWeek, 20 June 2007).
