SriLankan Airlines hires Beattie

SriLankan Airlines has picked Beattie Communications to help raise the profile of Sri Lanka and flights into the country.

Beattie picked up the account after a competitive pitch. The agency will work closely with SriLankan Airline's UK marketing team to raise awareness of Sri Lanka as an accessible and safe tourist destination and position SriLankan as the airline of choice.

Sri Lanka has hit the news recently following ongoing fighting between the Tamil Tigers rebel group and soldiers in the country’s volatile northern area.

SriLankan Airlines media relations manager Ruvini Jayasinghe said: 'As a country, Sri Lanka has faced many challenges and we felt Beattie was the right agency to help us overcome these issues.'

The campaign will be heavily media-based, targeting leisure travellers and 'VFRs' – those visiting friends and relatives.
