Scotland seeks status as food, drink destination

A Scottish food organisation has taken on its first PR support in a bid to promote Scotland as 'a land of food and drink'.

Scotland Food & Drink has hired Glasgow-based 3x1 PR to handle its PR activity following a three-way pitch.

The industry-led organisation was set up in 2007 and plans to grow the industry from £7.5billion to £10billion by 2017.

‘This is an exciting time for our industry,' said Scotland Food & Drink marketing manager Amanda Brown.

‘Our communications strategy will be critical in building awareness of the Scottish food and drink industry and as part of our strategy for growth.

'We also want to communicate our vision of Scotland becoming internationally known as a land of food and drink'.

Organisation members include food and drink businesses, trade organisations and research companies.
