FRONT PAGE: ITV to slash PR jobs in latest comms shake-up

ITV's corporate comms chief has said that 'most' of the broadcaster's 75-strong programme publicity department will have to reapply for their jobs in a major shake-up of its PR operation.

Director of corporate comms Ruth Settle comfirmed that the headcount in the PR team was being reduced. She declined to give numbers, but it is understood that the team will be slimmed down to about 50 staff.

ITV is undertaking the restructure following a ‘benchmarking' process looking at PR practices across the British TV industry.

Staff in London, Manchester and Leeds were informed of the restructure at a series of meetings yesterday afternoon.

PR staff have until 20 June to apply for the new positions, according to ITV insiders. Details of the remuneration package were expected to be made available to employees this week.

Group director of corporate affairs Mark Gallagher is understood to be driving the plans.
He has set about overhauling ITV's corporate comms operation since moving from Camelot last year.
