Ogilvy to help draw more British tourists to Brazil

The Brazilian Tourism Board has called in Ogilvy PR to oversee a new comms offensive to lure more UK tourists.

Brazil: affordable
Brazil: affordable

The agency has been briefed to focus on the diversity and affordability of Brazil as a holiday destination for UK holidaymakers.

Each year, more than 170,000 people from the UK visit Brazil and the number is increasing.

Ogilvy plans to kick off PR for Brazil by launching activities at the London Bossa Nova Festival early next month. Rosie Robbins, travel and tourism specialist at Ogilvy PR, said: 'The free event will celebrate 50 years of the chilled-out Bossa Nova sound, with acclaimed international musicians bringing a little bit of Rio to the South Bank.'

The agency also plans to use its broadcast and digital specialists to 'bring the sights and sounds of Brazil directly to holidaymakers surfing the net'. Brazil began hunting for an agency earlier this spring (PRWeek, 11 April).
