Smoking lobby plans campaign

Smokers' lobby Forest will seize on this week's announcement that cigarette machines could be banned with a media offensive later this year.

Forest is planning a huge proactive media drive as the one-year anniversary of the smoking ban looms.

Forest also hopes to whip up opposition to the Government's approach to smoking among Labour MPs in marginal seats.

The pro-tobacco lobbying group said there had been a 'sea change' since last year's smoking ban, claiming that many Labour voters had vowed to switch allegiance.

'We get emails every day from lifelong Labour supporters who will never vote Labour again,' said director Simon Clark.
