Diary: Hit or Miss... Oops again

The Beijing Olympics has not exactly enjoyed the best publicity in the run-up to the August Games.


Now organisers have annoyed disability groups by publishing a guide that was designed to overcome Chinese prejudices. Commenting that 'some physically disabled are isolated, unsocial and introspective', and 'can be stubborn and controlling... defensive and have a sense of inferiority', did not endear Beijing's hierarchy to paralympians. Disability groups said they were 'stunned' that disabled athletes were still considered 'a race apart'.
