PRESS

US Vogue senior fashion writer Mark Holgate has been made style director of The Times Magazine. Holgate will also edit Luxx, The Times' quarterly glossy style magazine. The previous editor of Luxx, Tina Gaudoin, is now at the Wall Street Journal.

Siobhan Kennedy has started at The Times as politics and business correspondent based in Westminster. She was M&A correspondent.

Deputy editor of The Guardian Paul Johnson has been promoted to the newly created role of head of news, business and sport.

The Observer has appointed Rajeev Syal as investigations editor. He replaces Anthony Barnett, who has moved to Channel 4's Dispatches.Bryce Elder has started as markets reporter at the Financial Times. Elder, former editor of financial news service Hemscott, replaces Robert Orr, who has moved to the FT's special reports team. Meanwhile, Washington-based legal columnist Patti Waldmeir will move to China as Shanghai correspondent.

Matthew Todd has recently joined gay lifestyle magazine Attitude as editor, replacing Adam Mattera. Todd previously contributed to The Guardian as well as Top of The Pops and Live and Kicking magazines.

Northern newspaper Sunday Sun has promoted Coreena Ford from senior features writer to chief reporter, replacing Caroline Smith. Pauline Holt is now covering all features.

Dow Jones UK correspondent Molly Neal has joined The Skeptic team at the newswire as special writer.

Former Grazia contributing editor Miranda Levy has moved to Bauer's Mother & Baby magazine as editor.

Farmers Weekly business reporter Caroline Stocks is now deputy news editor. News reporter Andrew Watts has been promoted to deputy machinery editor. Paul Spackman, who currently works on the arable desk at Farmers Weekly Interactive, is now deputy business editor of the agriculture trade title.

News Shopper regional newspaper series has appointed Richard Firth as editor. He was previously editor of the Dewsbury Reporter.

BROADCAST

GMTV Scotland has hired ITV Tyne Tees head of planning (north) Brian O'Neill as news presenter and producer.

Eimear O'Callaghan is now the producer of BBC Northern Ireland's The Paul McFadden Show. The show airs on weekday mornings on Radio Foyle.

DIGITAL

Two former Maxim staffers are launching an online magazine for women at whispermag.co.uk. The title, aimed at 'real, down-to-earth girls', is edited and published by Liz Moores and Natalie Woodcock.

Online eco lifestyle and interiors magazine ecohomeandgarden.co.uk is soon to launch with Yvonne Ainsworth as editor.

ZDNet news editor Richard Thurston has joined Haymarket computing title SC Magazine as online news editor. He replaces Fiona Raisbeck, who left in March.

Daniel Benson has joined Future Publishing website cyclingnews.com as managing editor, the same title he held at runnersworld.co.uk.
