Media Relations: 2 Minutes with... Michael Brook, Editor, T3

Gadget bible T3 is launching its annual awards this month. In what types of gadgets is T3 most interested?

It is not just about things that plug into the wall; it is about things you really want to spend your money on, like cars and bikes. We have a 20-page news section, features and reviews, and a 'best of the best' style guide at the back.

Who reads the mag?

Generally men in their early to mid-thirties who have a big disposable income. The majority are single. They are gadget-obsessives who have to have the things first.

With what sort of information should PROs contact you?

Anything and everything gadget-related. We are looking for innovation. We are not necessarily concerned about big brands. Instead, we want new technology that makes us think 'wow'. We are looking for quirky stuff.

Anything else?

We are broadening our remit to include more lifestyle products. We want to show how technology fits into our readers' everyday lives. We recently ran a feature, for example, where we took cars for a burn in the country to see how realistic the Grand Turismo game is. We also have a mainly reader-voted awards ceremony in October. Award submissions for products need to be in by early July.

What opportunities are there on your site?

We are always looking for products that we can film for video content. This makes it more interesting than just an image. We also have a weekly podcast on a Friday that looks at individual products and broader issues in the tech world. We need details of any new spangly product before Friday.

What tips do you have for PROs?

It would be really useful if news press releases get sent to the news editor and not me.
