Helsinki-based Mirasys is the market leader in digital video surveillance and CCTV in the Nordics, with a growing presence in the UK and Spain. AxiCom Cohn & Wolfe has been briefed to make the company 'stand out from the competition' in the UK. The agency will take advantage of the UK's status as the country with the highest number of CCTV cameras in the world.

'Debate about the effectiveness of CCTV is becoming increasingly heated,' said Mirasys CEO Jukka Riivari. 'CCTV cameras are of limited use unless you can find and extract the critical images quickly and effectively. That's what we help to do.' He added that the UK market was 'cluttered and confused'.

WPP-owned Cohn & Wolfe acquired a majority stake in AxiCom earlier this year (PRWeek, 10 April). AxiCom CEO Julian Tanner now reports to C&W's global CEO Donna Imperato.
