The financial agency is seeking to develop its expertise in the area of listed companies going through mergers and acquisitions.
Lansons chief executive Tony Langham said: 'We're focusing on growing the business in the area (of M&A). We already have £500,000 of business in this area. We've grown into that area naturally.'
Lansons currently handles PR for RBS Insurance, which is pressing ahead with a sale. Seven companies have been shortlisted for the £6bn insurance business.
Langham added that the agency is using search consultants Bird & Co to find the division leader.
Meanwhile, Lansons is losing two of its staff members to Consolidated Communications. Joe Laing is joining the agency as an account director, to work on financial services business.
Sean Williams is joining as an account executive to bolster Consolidated's digital offering. Consolidated MD Nick Clark said it was a coincidence that both were joining at the same time.
The news follows the announcement that Lansons' joint MD Ian Williams is leaving the agency to join personal finance website Moneysupermarket.com as director of comms, responsible for investor relations, consumer and international PR (PRWeek, 21 March).
