Siobhan Wastie and Cerys Evans left healthcare specialist HSD earlier this year, just months after the agency was bought out by integrated comms agency Gyro International (PRWeek, 24 April).

They are launching ethical and consumer healthcare shop Signature Communications in association with Norwich-based PR agency The Word.

Signature Communications will form part of marcoms group The Works, which also includes The Word and digital agency Magic Online. The group is headed by founder Russell Evans and has 35 staff split across the agencies.

Wastie and Evans were both founding employees at HSD in 1998.

Wastie joined the agency from Blackwell Healthcare PR, where she was an account director. She headed HSD's secretariat and symposia division.

Evans was responsible for heading the agency's consumer healthcare division.

Last month also saw Gyro launch Gyro PR, in the wake of its first move into the PR industry with the acquisition of HSD (PRWeek, 24 April).

The new agency is headed by HSD founder and MD Lesley Scott. It specialises in B2B and B2C activity for sectors including retail, food and drink, finance and travel.

Scott reports to Gyro CEO Gary Brine and continues to lead HSD alongside the new offering.
