Hitachi brings in Wag Ed on data

Japanese electronics multinational Hitachi has handed Waggener Edstrom an EMEA brief to co-ordinate PR for its data storage arm across 20 countries.

Wag Ed will focus on western Europe, South Africa and Russia, supporting Hitachi Data Systems' expansion efforts. This branch of the NYSE-listed tech corporation provides data storage software and services to mid-sized and large organisations, including banks and blue chips. Part of Wag Ed's brief includes developing content across these markets.

Gillian Cockerill will lead the Wag Ed team across Europe, reporting to Hitachi Data Systems senior PR manager EMEA Bastiaan van Amstel.

Other hi-tech clients on the agency's London office roster include IT infrastructure giant BMC, which handed it a significant brief earlier this year (PRWeek, 28 February).

The agency recently lost a major client as microprocessor AMD put its account out to pitch (PRWeek, 1 May).
