Paterson leaves Royal Mail for investment body

The Royal Mail's head of government affairs Dirk Paterson has taken the top PR role at an investment interest group.

Paterson has been made head of comms at the Association of Private Client Investment Managers and Stockbrokers (APCIMS).

He moves after six months at the Royal Mail where he was overseeing government relations on an interim six-month contract, reporting to director of comms Mary Fagan (PRWeek, 6 December 2007).

Before joining Royal Mail, Paterson was based at Lansons Communications, having joined from Citigate Public Affairs in 2005 to launch its lobbying practice. His head of public affairs role at Lansons has since been taken over by ex-FD-LLM lobbyist Ben Abbotts.

At APCIMS, Paterson will be responsible for bolstering the organisation's profile, both with key media and political stakeholders. He will attempt to raise some of the regulatory issues facing the investment industry.
