The consumer products multinational is in the midst of refreshing its lucrative global PR roster and hopes to have new agencies in place during the summer.
Unilever global media relations director Trevor Gorin does not have a set number of agencies in mind, but ‘wants a selection of top quality agencies with a range of strengths'.
He added that the company was formalising its approach to PR agency use, with the aim of ‘consistently applying to PR the same discipline we apply to our other communication channels'.
Unilever already uses Ogilvy Public Relations and Edelman. GolinHarris is believed to be close to joining these agencies on the roster but could not be reached for comment. Unilever may look to appoint some other independent shops as well.
Gorin declined to comment on individual agencies.
