Diary: Hit or Miss... Right royal blunder

Prince William's three-hour trip to Afghanistan was widely condemned as a 'PR exercise' by the press.

The trip followed a wave of negative media coverage after it was discovered that the Prince had piloted military helicopters to a stag party on the Isle of Wight and to his girlfriend's house. Unflattering comparisons were made between his three-hour trip and Prince Harry's ten-week service in Afghanistan. Even the fact that he was bringing back a dead soldier did nothing to dampen the media scorn.
