Brunswick loses research chief to Gavin Anderson

Gavin Anderson has poached one of Brunswick's internal research chiefs to set up its own dedicated research arm.

Tom Poston joins after nine years in research roles and will head a team of four at Gavin Anderson.

'We've always had an indigenous research offering, but wanted something more structured,' said Gavin Anderson London office CEO Ken Cronin. 'Tom's role will be especially useful in offering support to public affairs and political clients.'

Poston joins as head of research, reporting to Cronin.

The move follows a trend of City and corporate PR agencies looking to expand their offering into research.

One agency director told PRWeek that research companies 'prove more expensive and less effective' than internally managed groups, which were 'more likely to understand the needs of clients'.

Separately, Gavin Anderson has hired June Deasy as an associate director, focusing on public affairs.

Deasy joins after nine years at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), where she was most recently public affairs manager. Before that she was PR manager and press officer.

Previously, Deasy worked in Scotland as deputy head of press and parliamentary affairs at its Federation of Small Businesses.

Gavin Anderson has recently expanded its reach, with the opening of an Abu Dhabi-based City and corporate PR shop.

The Gavin Anderson, Middle East and Northern Africa office is led by Robert Kaltrachian as CEO, Middle East & North Africa. It was launched last month (PRWeek, 25 April).
