The online marketplace wants one agency to provide both services and is down to a shortlist of a 'handful' of agencies that will pitch in the next three weeks.
Bell Pottinger is currently retained by eBay for a 'very small' public affairs brief. Head of PR and communities Richard Kanareck said eBay had 'no issues' with Bell Pottinger, but would not confirm if it is on the list.
The new agency will be expected to communicate with government and regulatory officials, as well as corporate affairs writers.
The site will continue to use Shine, which was appointed in August 2007, for its consumer work.
