I've been going to Market Place socially for years as it's a stone's throw from Oxford Street and probably one of the best bars to go to if you're in that part of central London.

Not only is it a great place to meet friends for food and drink after work, it's brilliant for lunchtime client meetings too. It serves a healthy array of tapas. My particular favourite is the Pulpo, a traditional Galician octopus dish that is served with crushed potatoes, Spanish paprika and extra virgin olive oil drizzled on the top. If you like white wine, I'd strongly suggest you try the organic Rioja Genoli, Vina Ijalba.

The bar is set over two floors with a 100-person capacity basement which can be privately hired for presentations or boutique 'invite only' events, parties and/or launches.

The icing on the cake, though, has got to be the huge outdoor space. Clients love it - especially in the summer. When everyone's outside, it creates a really nice atmosphere. It also helps that it attracts an equal mix of professionals and creative types.

I was at the venue the other day and noticed it is opening a second bar in Exmouth Market this summer. We tend to have lot of meetings in the Farringdon/Clerkenwell vicinity so this is good news.
