Diary: Hard work pays off for Reading runner

All this hard work, though, has its benefits. The world of PR is loaded with lean, mean fighting machines - and one or two ultra-fit athletes.

Take consultant Liz Hartney from Reading-based B2B PR agency EvokedSet, who amazingly ran last week's spread-sponsored London marathon in less than three hours.

In fact, Hartney traversed the 26-mile course in two hours and 49 minutes, making her the 13th British woman to cross the line and the fastest woman over the age of 40.

To put Hartney's performance in context, the winner of the women's race (Irina Mikitenko from Germany) won the title with a time of two hours and 24 minutes. May God have mercy on her knees.
