LETTER: Don't pretend you don't want new clients

Consultancies may well wish to enforce restrictive covenants on employees (Management feature, 11 April).

But while they bemoan losing clients to a staff departure, they roll out the red carpet when a new employee joins with client in tow.

Headhunters and consultancies can glue themselves to claims that they hire solely on skills but that is not true in my experience.

On the occasions I went for job interviews the question was ubiquitous and delivered without even the pretence of a blush - 'will you bring business with you?'
