As a PRO I understand that the media are our bread and butter, but it does seem that the very media we try to support are often the ones who exaggerate the negative stories.
As the PR director for the Kenya Tourist Board, much of this year has been spent fire-fighting the negative stories that have appeared in the UK press over the past three months. Last week we hosted over 250 media from around the world in Kenya to combat the stories that have been discouraging holidaymakers from visiting Kenya.
You have to feel for T5 and the PR team there, who were fighting an uphill battle from day one. I travelled through T5 without a hiccup in its first week of operation and through Kenya for a week without any problems, but good news doesn't sell stories or pictures for the hungry hacks and snappers these days.
