Beattie to assist sea chart service

A UK body that charts the world's oceans has hired its first PR agency to support the launch of a new digital service.

The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UK-HO) has appointed Beattie Communications' Glasgow office following a three-way pitch.

The UKHO, part of the Ministry of Defence, has called in the agency for the launch of its digital Admiralty Vector Chart Service.

Beattie will promote the new service to the world's navy and commercial shipping fleets and hydrographic offices. It will also handle all event activity.

The service is being trialled on P&O's new superliner Ventura, which is being launched this month.

Almost 70 per cent of world shipping uses UKHO charts.
