Further ITV appointments bolster comms team

ITV has continued to strengthen its corporate comms team by hiring ITN's comms director along with an eBay PRO.

The appointments are the latest in a series of changes to the ITV comms team following Mark Gallagher's arrival as director of corporate affairs late last year (PRWeek, 21 September 2007).

ITN's Louise Evans is to join as head of press, financial and commercial. She has been in charge of comms for ITN since 2006, overseeing all external comms and public affairs strategies.

Meanwhile, Sophy Silver has joined as head of press for ITV's consumer division, responsible for all press and PR activity across ITV's online, mobile and interactive businesses. Silver was until earlier this month senior comms manager for the Gumtree website, owned by eBay.

Both report to director of corporate comms Ruth Settle, who took over extra responsibilities when the former director of corporate affairs Jim Godfrey left last month (PRWeek, 28 March).

A changed structure will see five divisional heads reporting into Settle. As reported by PRWeek last month, Mark Large is due to rejoin as head of media relations. He is currently senior associate director for issues and crisis at Hill & Knowlton. Former Portland partner Andrew Sholl will also join in May as head of press, global content.

Settle said: 'We now have the right structure and right people in place.'
