DIARY: Lib Dem MP heeds Diary's advice

Lib Dem MP and minor celebrity Lembit Opik, he of the crooked phizog and Cheeky bedfellow, has been paying particular attention to PRWeek recently.

Recent readers of Diary will be aware that Opik has, on occasion, advised public affairs outfit Luther Pendragon for a small fee.

Upon Diary's suggestion that the Register of Members' Interests would be an ideal place for Opik to publicly declare his work for Luther Pendragon, the MP for Montgomeryshire has done just that.

Opik told the venerable Western Mail: 'I did not previously register the payments because I did not consider that the work I did for Luther Pendragon had any bearing on my role as an MP.

'However, on reflection, I have now decided it was appropriate to register the payments. I am grateful to PRWeek for drawing this matter to my attention.'

It was a pleasure, Mr Opik.
