Giles Hattersley, editor of men's magazine Arena, is moving back to The Sunday Times, where he was chief interviewer until last year. Arena executive editor Mat Smith will be responsible for the editorial team until a replacement has been hired.

City AM diary editor Jeremy Hazlehurst has been promoted to features editor. Arts editor Johanna Thomas-Corr will be his deputy while Victoria Bates is now diarist and will edit the Capitalist section. Bates will still be reporting news and writing features.

William MacNamara is moving to the London bureau of the Financial Times, leaving the Johannesburg office. He is joining the analysis page team this week.

The Express gossip magazine Star has hired Georgina Rodgers as assistant features editor. Rodgers moves from the Press Association, where she worked as a showbiz reporter.

Following Joe Mott's move to a new column, Daily Star TV reporters James Ingham and Sofia Zagzoule will now be covering the 'Rehab' showbiz column in the Daily Star Sunday. Both will still cover reality TV.

The Daily Mail's deputy health editor Lorraine Eames is now on maternity leave. Charlotte Dovey, a freelancer and former Femail writer, will be covering her role.

Steve Myall has joined London freesheet thelondonpaper as a senior reporter. Myall moves from the Mail on Sunday where he was a reporter.

Time Out London's Gabriel Tate has been named acting TV editor of the weekly magazine for a six-month period of maternity cover. Tate joined Time Out in 2004 as a sub editor.

Haymarket women's glossy Eve has appointed freelancer Alexandra Fullerton as its shopping editor. Fullerton will continue to work on the Saturday Telegraph Magazine as a contributor.

Paula Murray, a reporter on Scotland's Daily Record, has left to join the Scottish Sunday Express as news reporter.

Jim Stanton is leaving the Edinburgh Evening News, where he was business editor, for a PR role. Business reporter Michael Blackley will take over.

Thisismoney.co.uk deputy editor Simon Moon has retired. Adrian Lowery has become assistant editor, news and production, while Simon Lambert is now assistant editor, personal finance. Ed Monk is now news editor.

Bauer Consumer Media has hired Ellie Guttridge as news writer for women's weekly magazine Yours. Guttridge covered court cases for the Central News agency.

Jessica Hodgson is leaving the London bureau of newswire Dow Jones, where she was UK media companies reporter. Hodgson is moving to the San Francisco office to cover business and software.

BROADCAST

The BBC has asked The Fast Show star John Thomson to front a Saturday lunchtime show on BBC Radio Manchester. Thomson, who recently appeared in BBC1's New Street Law, will host a two-hour show between 11am and 1pm. Terry Christian will no longer be presenting his 4pm show but will continue to host Manchester Music.

Annelies van den Belt, who launched ITV's online service, is leaving ITV.com for the Russian network Sup. Van den Belt speaks fluent Russian and once worked for the Moscow Times. ITV's chief technology adviser Dominic Cameron will lead the team until a replacement is found.
